A classic Dutch dish featuring potatoes, (seasonal) vegetables, and a meat substitute. Served with gravy and applesauce for those who like it. Simple, nutritious, and comforting.

Ingredients

  • 1500 g
    potatoes (floury)
  • 1500 g
    vegetables (seasonal)
  • 2 pcs
    meat substitute (2-4x)
  • 1 pcs
    applesauce
  • 200 ml
    gravy

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal-sized pieces. Boil them in plenty of water with a pinch of salt until tender, about 20 minutes.
  2. 2Prepare the seasonal vegetables: wash, peel, and cut them if necessary. Boil or steam them until they are al dente (8–15 minutes, depending on the type).
  3. 3Cook the meat substitutes in a pan with a little oil or butter, following the instructions on the package, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  4. 4Heat the gravy in a small saucepan, or make your own gravy in the pan in which the meat substitute was cooked.
  5. 5Drain the potatoes and serve them with a pat of butter or some gravy, if desired.
  6. 6Divide the vegetables, potatoes, and meat substitute among the plates.
  7. 7Serve with a spoonful of applesauce as a refreshing, sweet accompaniment.
  8. 8Enjoy your little GDPR!
