A classic Dutch stamppot made with potatoes, carrots, and onions. Served with vegetarian smoked sausage, bacon bits, and gravy—delicious comfort food for cold days.

Ingredients

  • 1000 g
    potatoes (waxy)
  • 750 g
    carrots
  • 300 g
    onion
  • 300 ml
    gravy
  • 1 pcs
    bacon bits
  • 1 pcs
    vegetarian smoked sausage

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal-sized pieces. Peel the carrots and cut them into thin slices or small cubes. Cut the onions into half-rings.
  2. 2Place the potatoes, carrots, and onions in a large pot and add water until everything is just covered. Add a pinch of salt.
  3. 3Bring to a boil and simmer for 20–25 minutes until everything is cooked through.
  4. 4Meanwhile, heat the vegetarian smoked sausage according to the instructions on the package (in water or in the microwave).
  5. 5Fry the vegetarian bacon bits in a dry skillet until they are golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
  6. 6Drain the potatoes, carrots, and onions, and let them steam dry for a moment with the lid on the pan.
  7. 7Mash everything coarsely or finely, as desired, using a masher. If desired, add a little butter or milk for a creamier texture.
  8. 8Stir the fried speck pieces into the hutspot and season with salt and pepper.
  9. 9Serve the hutspot with the smoked sausage and warmed gravy.
